Soviet forces concentrate attacks against the Finnish 3rd Division holding the Mannerheim Line in the Summa area. Soviet tanks and artillery pound the Finns keeping the pressure on the defenders. The Soviets make no attempt at a breakthrough yet.
In the east, the Japanese Diet (legislature) approves a record budget. Almost half is to for military expenditure. Chinese Communist leader Mao Tse-tung calls for the US to stand firm against Japan over its invasion of China.
