The Balkan states announce their intention to stay remain neutral in the war between Britain, France and Germany.
In Finland, a total of 141 towns, rail junctions, and harbours are attacked by the Red Air Force. 14 are killed and 179 injured in the heavy air raids on Helsinki and the surrounding area.
A British seaman and three German airmen picked up by a trawler after yesterday’s attacks on shipping are brought ashore by the Grimsby Marine ARP. The airmen are from the Heinkel brought down off the mouth of the Tyne.
