Here’s a preview of the four Commandos which go on sale this week.

Previously Number 2592 from 1992, the story is by Ian Clark with art by Ricardo Garijo (inside) and Ian Kennedy (cover).
Number 4272 The Shadow War

Mike Knowles dreamed up this story of underground war. Denis McLoughlin did the pen work. The cover is by Alan Burrows. Previously issued as Number 2585 in 1992.
Number 4273 The Raven and the Renegade

Ferg Handley tells a tale of dark age treachery with illustrations and cover by John Ridgway.
Number 4274 Rifleman From Rio

Alan Hebden’s story takes you from Brazil to Italy and back again on a trail of vengeance. Mike White supplies all the artwork.
Great lineup of issues there!
Is that the same Mike White that drew Mean Arena for 2000AD back in the 80s?

Yes, Derek. Well spotted. It is indeed the same Mike White, who, according to the link at the official website above, drew many stories for 2000AD from 1978 till 1994. He was responsible for many one-off Future Shocks and Time Twister (with some written by Alan Moore) tales, but is probably best known for his work on tough future-sports story Mean Arena.
It seems that my local shop only puts two of the four commandos at a time which means going into town twice! Also I still don’t know what happen to Harry in the issue after Harry’s war all that time ago. P.S. The Commandos are great.
Alistair,
Your Local shop should put them out four at a time because that’s the way we send them out. I can’t do much about the shop, but I can tell you that if you e-mail subscriptions@dcthomson.co.uk and ask for a copy of No 3882 “The Long Way Home” they’ll be happy to sell you one. That way you’ll find out what happened to Harry Bates.
Thank you very much! I will try and get in contact with Dcthomson. By the way are there any more stories about Harry Bates apart from Harry’s War no.3878, Long Way Home no.3882 and Tin-Can Trouble no.4057?
