Friday 8th March 1940
Soviet forces finally capture part of Viipuri. Constant pressure on Finnish defences to the north-east of the city is beginning to wear down resistance.
Sensing a victory and the chance to dictate more severe terms,The Soviet government rejects a Finnish request, by the delegation in Moscow, for an immediate cease fire.
Large quantities of French arms, ammunition and 175 aircraft are on their way to Finland. Will they arrive in time to make any difference to the outcome of the war?
